Fiscal Responsibility and Taxpayer Protection
Peter Barca is a strong believer in fiscal
responsibility and supporting only those programs that prove their
effectiveness. He will prioritize the programs that save taxpayer
dollars to help Wisconsin’s citizens and the economy.
As a legislator, he was a leader in:
·
Fighting to lower income tax rates to make
us more competitive with Illinois.
·
Lowering the top tax rate and all others
from 10% to 6.9%.
·
Worked to add sunset clauses on
legislation so that programs would only be continued if they proved to
be effective, so that legislators would vote to renew them
·
Fought to reduce long-term capital gains
in Wisconsin so those who invested in growing businesses
long-term would have their investment rewarded.
·
Authored the first bill that eventually
passed in the budget so as to combine consumer protection agencies in
order to eliminate duplicate bureaucracies.
·
Has Co-Chaired the Audit Committee and
used those audits to ensure that hard earned taxpayer dollars were used
wisely
Peter Barca’s Agenda is:
·
To provide taxpayer relief through
accountability at all levels of government
·
To only fund programs that are effective
and eliminate those that do not achieve their purposes
·
Prioritize programs that save taxpayers
money, such as Family Care that gives seniors the comfort of living at
home, thereby eliminating costly nursing home care
·
To find programs that work and eliminate
those that don’t
·
To eliminate duplication in programs
·
To provide enhanced tax credits to
businesses and individuals who use alternative energy, such as solar and
wind, to help decrease dependence on foreign fuels and cut consumption,
which would lower the cost of energy
·
Close loopholes where tax abuse has proven
to take place
·
To fully fund the commitment to remove 2/3
of schools costs from property taxes
·
To provide tax breaks to keep seniors
living in Wisconsin rather than moving from the state |
