Peter Barca's Comprehensive Plan for Public Safety

Public Safety

Peter Barca believes that all citizens deserve to be safe. As a legislator, Peter Barca was a leader in juvenile justice and law enforcement issues that increased penalties for criminals.

  •  He was the lead author of a bill that was passed to set minimum mandatory sentences for drug dealers.
  •  He was the lead author of the bill that passed that made negligent use of a motor vehicle resulting in a death crime, following a serious accident that took place in Kenosha.
  • He was one of the leaders to help pass the constitutional amendment to protect crime victim’s rights.
  • He was a leader working with the Badger State Sheriffs Association to fully fund criminals held in county facilities to save taxpayers money.
  • He helped to pass a key amendment to the municipal court reform bill to save taxpayers hundred of thousands of dollars every year.
  • He was one of the leaders in reforming the juvenile code to have more serious and effective measures for handling juvenile criminals.

The Barca Agenda is:

  • Develop new initiatives to keep schools safe and improve campus safety.
  • Seek new measures to keep the children of Kenosha safe from predators.
  • Help increase resources to law enforcement to help prevent crime from occurring such as investment in new technology and needed equipment.
  • Prioritize resources available for the crime labs to help prosecutors obtain evidence to put criminals in jail.

Not only to be tough on crime, but to be smart on crime prevention as well.
